troop letter: Jefff

October 09, 2008

Bob,

Hello, Jeff here, 1SG of the XXst MP Company (Airborne).  Thanks
so much for your efforts and support of all the Troopers serving over
here.

We really appreciate your efforts and it makes a great difference
with our morale.  We are “geographically challenged” when it comes to all
the comforts and amenities some of our brothers and sisters have over
here.  We are in the extreme southern part of Iraq, and we work and live
with the British, and their support isn’t nearly as complete as ours is.
They are only here for 6 months at a time, as we are here for 15, and
what is tolerable for 6 months becomes quite a pain in the neck after
15.

I see from the email below that MSG XXX has given you our
address.  It is really hard for me to ask for things, as I feel like we
are working for you guys and as long as you support and remember what we
are doing, that is enough.  Having said that, 2 platoons of my Troopers
are living in the city, among the natives, as we like to say.  They are
unable to run or do any cardio exercise. If you come across a treadmill
or a stationary bike, my guys out there would get tremendous use out of
that.  A couple of Jump ropes or any other fitness gear would be put to
good use. As paratroopers, it is important to us to stay fit....and it is
a great stress reliever.  Let me know if there is anything I can do for
you on this end....thanks again Bob.

Respectfully

Jeff
