Hello family and friends
The Afghan National Army is standing up a Sergeants Major Academy in the city of Kabul.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be sometime in June.
I have been selected to serve as the course manager and Deputy Commandant at the Afghan Army Sergeant’s Major Academy. Most soldiers my age would probably love this assignment as it gets you out of the fighting and austere conditions further down range. I declined the offer stating that I did not want to go to the green “safe” zone, I wanted to stay in the fight with my soldiers. Against my wishes, I am being transferred anyway effective 6 May.
My soldiers and I want to thank you all for the CARE packages that you have been sending. If you are sending to other soldiers at other locations, please continue to do so. As for myself, I will be in the rear with all the amenities I will need so please discontinue sending CARE packages to my address and give them to the soldiers that need them. The rest of my team has been split up again as well so I will not be able to continue distributing to the soldiers that need them.
The good news is that we are close to the end of our deployment and have enough items to last. We hope to be home before the end of Summer.
My e-mail address will remain the same. However, my new mailing address is:
