troop letter: Thomas
February 10, 2007
Dear Mr. Bob Williams,
My Name is SSG Thomas ***. I’m in the U.S. Army currently deployed to Iraq. I’m at a place called Camp Stryker which is
located in Baghdad at BIAP (Baghdad International Airport). I’m a UH-60 A/L Blackhawk Helicopter Crewchief/doorgunner.
We fly missions in and around Baghdad and as far south as the Kuwait and Iran border, but most seem to be around Baghdad. I’m in Bravo company which is a flight company of the 3/142 AHB (Assault Helicopter Battalion). I’m writing to THANK YOU and your company and community for the great care package you sent us. Everything in the package was greatly appreciated by all. We fly every day and the days are long, we are a small company of 49 pilots and crew members, and due to the schedule it’s not often that we sit down and unwind together. On the day your package arrived, inside contained a few boxes of cigars. A lot of the guys were excited as that’s something you don’t often see. That night we decided to get as many of us together back by the living area to enjoy a cigar and girl scout cookies. We haven’t gotten a group together like that in awhile, at least 3/4 of the company were there and we just enjoyed ourselves for a little while. We sat around and forgot the War for an evening with your package in the middle. I thank you for that. Can you please FWD our thanks to your team and also special thanks to Troop 1251 for all the great cookies and the wonderful pictures they sent, we passed it around. Also thank Jo Ann Jones for her very moving letter. We just want you all to know, It is an Honor to serve for great Americans like you.
You and your Community are the very reasons why it makes everything we do worthwhile, and why we all volunteered to serve.
Thank You All!!
If there is anything we can do for you, please ask.
SSG Thomas
